Bioinformatics Specified Courses
Bioinformatics I & II
  This course is a 1.5 hour, two day a week class that is designed to aid bioinformatics and basic science, math, computer science, or engineering graduate students and medical students in the application of knowledge gained through previous course work in informatics, and information systems, to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of bioinformatics systems. Students are to be introduced to current methodology, concepts and analysis of Bioinformatics. The areas of biomedical databases, genetic, genomic, gene expression and proteomic, biochemical, cellular, single cell, multi-cellular and complex (invertebrate and vertebrate) organism data and mechanistic modeling will be covered.
Bioinformatics I - BIIN 200
  Designed to aid students in the application of knowledge gained through previous course work in informatics, information systems, mathematics, medical and/or biological research to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems and analysis methods applied to biomedical data. Prereq: BIOL 4 and CHEM 24 which may be taken concurrently and COSC 55 and cons. of dept. ch.

Bioinformatics II - BIIN 201
 

Designed to aid students in the application of knowledge gained through previous course work in informatics, information systems, mathematics, medical and/or biological research to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems and analysis methods applied to biomedical data. Prereq: BIOL 4 and CHEM 24 which may be taken concurrently and COSC 55 and cons. of dept. ch.

Bioinformatics Seminar - BIIN 17250
 

The course consists of a series of seminars focused on state-of-the-art methodologies and current research subjects in bioinformatics and computational biology.  Each seminar is given by a leader in the field invited from institutions throughout the country.  Discussion sessions are arranged around each seminar to allow extensive interactions between students and invited speakers.  Prior completion of graduate-level courses in biology and quantitative sciences is recommended.

Bioinformatics Research Practicum - BIIN 17294
 

Provides students, who are enrolled in the Bioinformatics program, with an opportunity to participate in the practice of research and/or development in the area of bioinformatics. Prereq: BIIN 200 and cons. of dept. ch.
